Packet Pickup and Expo
Saturday, October 13 at Gulf Place
Time: 10AM – 6PM
- Spend an amazing afternoon unwinding at Gulf Place with food, drinks, and entertainment before the big race.
- All runners need to be present with a valid photo ID to pick up your race packet. Unfortunately, someone cannot pick up your packet for you
Sunday, October 14 at Gulf Place
Please remember to come early and don’t forget your bib or running shoes
- 5:00AM – Shuttles provided by Astro Travel will begin transporting runners from designated parking locations: Van R Butler Elementary & South Walton High School
- 6:30AM – 30A will be closed to all traffic
- 7:00AM – Half Marathon starts
- 7:15AM – 5K starts
- 8:00AM – all 5K Runners moved to the sidewalk
- 9:30AM – Road re-opened to traffic. ALL runners moved to the sidewalk.
- 9AM – 5K awards
- 10:15AM-11AM – Half Marathon awards
- 9:15AM-1PM – Live Music from Boukou Groove
- 7:30AM-1:00PM – Race Expo
- 11:00AM – Silent auction final call
- 1PM – Silent auction winners and pickup
- 1PM – Last shuttles back to parking areas

Rules for Overall Awards and Prize Money:
- All athletes registered for the half marathon are eligible.
- All prize money will be determined by Gun Time.
- All prize money will be distributed post-event after all W-9’s have been collected and scoring has become official.
- The 30A Half Marathon does not support the use of any illegal or banned substances.
- THIS IS A SANCTIONED USATF EVENT – which means participants are subject to random drug testing.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What time should I arrive on race morning?
Please arrive at the race site no later than 6:15AM. We encourage you to come at least an hour early to ensure you have plenty of time to get parked, shuttled, and lined up.
You can drop off any non-valuable personal items at bag check, along with your tear-off tag from your race bib. Your belongings will be held here and available for collection until the close of the finish line on race day. Items not claimed by the end of the day will be held for one week before being donated. Please do not check valuables, cash, or jewelry. The event and its volunteers are not responsible for any lost items.
If you discard an article of clothing along the race course, we strongly recommend doing so near a water station where drop bins will be located. We cannot make any guarantees that items will be retrieved, but our course crew will make every effort to pick up clothing as they close the course. Retrieved articles that are not claimed will be kept for one week before being donated.
Course and Hours
The race starts at Gulf Place with the turnaround at the WaterColor Lake House
Medical aid will be available along the race course and near the finish line.
On Time Results of Atlanta, GA will time the 30A Half Marathon and 5K races. They use the MyLaps BibTag timing system which is used to time some of the largest races in the world including the Boston and Chicago Marathons. They will be clocking finishers as they cross the finish line to provide fast, accurate results.
How do I get a refund if I cannot attend?
We understand that life happens and things come up. This year, we have partnered with Ticket Guardian to take away the uncertainty for you! If for any reason, up until 14 days before the race you can’t make it, you will get a 100% refund! Additionally, if something comes up last minute within the last 14 days, you will still be covered for the most common reasons registrants cancel last minute like sickness, injury, or a last-minute work trip. What if I change my mind and want to change race events?
Changing from the 5K to the Half Marathon will be permitted for a change fee if Half Marathon spots are still available.
Changing from the Half Marathon to the 5K will be permitted if 5K spots are still available. No refunds will be issued for this type of change.
What happens if I lose my timing device?
That’s okay! You can still race! Just get to the registration booth as soon as you can and let us know what happened and we can get you another one.
Does the race have pace groups?
Absolutely! We do this to make sure everyone can be comfortable starting and running the race at a pace they’re comfortable with. When you register, we ask you what your estimated finish time is and that is the pace group you will be placed in. On race day, there will be signs for your pace group, so you’ll know where to go! If everyone goes to the pace group they are comfortable with, the race should start and move perfectly!
Do the races have corrals?
Yes! There will be corrals near the race start/finish line to ensure everyone’s safety. There will not be corrals along the entire race course, however.
Where can we park for the event?
Parking will be available at Van Butler Elementary School and South Walton High School. Shuttle service will be provided from these locations by Astro Travel. PLEASE NOTE – Do not park blocking the beach access at Ed Walline Park. This is a safety hazard to beachgoers and as such, vehicles blocking the beach access will be towed at the owner’s expense. To avoid having your vehicle towed, please stick to designated parking areas. We cannot ensure that private businesses will allow you to park in their lots.
Is the course USATF certified?
The course has been USATF certified. Our certification code is FL16029TY. This means it can be used as a qualifier for other races from the Disney races to the Boston Marathon!
Where does the race start and finish?
The race will start and finish at Gulf Place, turning around at the Lake House in WaterColor.
What are the event start times?
The Half Marathon will start at 7AM.
The 5K will start at 7:15AM
What is not allowed on the course?
Unfortunately, no dogs, strollers, baby carriers, wagons, bicycles, roller blades or skateboards will be permitted on the course.
Is there a bag check available race day?
Yes. Bag check will be available at Gulf Place pre-race. The 30A Half Marathon & 5K nor any of its sponsors or beneficiaries will be responsible for lost items. Please do not check valuable items.
Does the event have a headphone policy?
The 30A Half Marathon & 5K would prefer if you left your headphones at home on race day, for your own safety and for the safety of those around you.
Is there a time limit for each event?
Those still running the 5K race at 8AM will be ushered onto the sidewalk to finish. The road needs to be opened by 9:30 Anyone still running at this time is welcome to finish the race on the sidewalk.
Where will the water stations, medical aid stations and portalets be located on the course?
We want all our racers to be safe and comfortable. Water stations, portalets, and medical aid will be available in numerous locations throughout the course as well as at the starting and turnaround points. Please see our course map for their locations.
How many water stations will be on the course?
There will be 6 water stations along the race course. One at the starting point, one at the turnaround point, and one at each mile.
Is chip time or gun time used to determine awards?
Prize money will be based on GUN TIME.
All age group winners will be based on CHIP TIME.
Chip timing for the 30A Half Marathon & 5K will be provided by On Time Results of Atlanta, GA.
What happens if I have an issue with my time after the race?
We will have two Timing stations near the finish line for any issues.
What are the age groups for awards?
Age groups for the Half Marathon are as follows:
14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
Age groups for the 5K are as follows:
6-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
When and where are the awards ceremonies?
5K awards will begin at 9AM at Gulf Place
Half Marathon awards will begin at 10:15AM at Gulf Place
What if I lose something at the race?
The 30A Half Marathon & 5K, its sponsors, and beneficiaries are not responsible for personal items lost at the race. We will be happy to take your information so if a lost item turns up we can contact you.
Is this event raising money for a charity?
Yes. 100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit The Sonder Project and their mission to end extreme poverty and hunger worldwide via high-impact, sustainable solutions.
